Link building is the most important aspect of SEO. Often this can be a tricky thing, particularly for a newbie. Link building if gone wrong can hurt your site badly. So, you must be aware of what you’re doing.
1. Too Many Into Little Time:
Getting tons of links in the very first month of the site may sound like an exciting idea, but that’s certainly a recipe for disaster. Do not hurry in the business of link building. If yours’ is a new site then take care that you do not build floods of links in quick time. Do it slowly and steadily.
2. Unnatural Links:
A normal link building would have all types of links nofollow, PR0 to high page rank links, links from different kinds of sites-blogs, websites, directories, forums, Different types of domains-.com,.net,.org and more. But if your link is generated from similar kinds of sources then, you may get banned by the search engines.
3. Buying Links:
This just doesn’t work in SEO.Google will catch you sooner or later. And both the buyers and sellers of links will be penalized.
4. All Links To The Home Page:
Search Engines love those sites that have incoming links spread all across the site. Getting links only to the home page of the site is not going to help you much. Deep linking is the way to go.
5. Reciprocal Link Exchanges:
Reciprocal link exchanges do not work anymore. This used to be the very successful and sure-shot method of getting Google’s attention a few years back. People use to spam every successful webmaster for a link exchange. But, now it does not have much value.
6.No Anchor Text In The Link:
This is a very basic way of link building. Your links must have anchor text to get any kind of link juice. A plain drop of the URL is not working anymore. People use to create thousands of profile links by this method. But this has not had much value now a days.
7. Bad Neighborhood:
Bad neighborhood or linking to a site that has a poor reputation in the eyes of a search engine is sure shot way to get penalized by the search engines.
8. All Nofollow Link:
Nofollow links are not going to get you to the first page of Google.Rel=nofollow is a tag that tells the search engine to not to pass link juice to the linked site. So these links do not get you many benefits. You need to find enough quality do follow links.
9. Backlink Spamming:
Still, people try to get links from the methods like spamming in blog comments, forums, and article directories. But these methods do not work. Search engines these days are smart enough to recognize these bad behaviors.
10. Low-Quality Links:
If you get tons of links from low-quality sites, links from a page that search engines can not spider, and links from a page that already has a ton of links then you’re not going to gain much from your efforts.
